Entries Open for Bell Boating Competition at Regatta for Disabled
The Regatta for Disabled are delighted to announce that entries have opened for teams to enter the Bell Boating Competition at the event on Saturday 3 September at Phyllis Court Club.
Racing on the river enable teams to race together in Bell Boats – like two Canadian canoes linked together with a centre platform, making them a very stable catamaran. The boats can accommodate a team of 8 paddlers and a helm. To maintain team fairness on the water, crews should, where possible, include a minimum of two members with a disability. If a crew is unable to meet this requirement, they will attract a 10 second penalty when competing against a crew which does meet the requirement. For more information on entering your team, contact bellboating@regattaforthedisabled.org
In addition to the exciting competition on the water, land based activities will excite those looking for a little adventure or simply to relax and watch the entertainment or take part in the adaptive activities such as a Climbing Wall, Millers Ark Animals, outdoor play areas and much much more. Mobiloo, with an attendant will be on site especially for those who require adapted facilities.
For those wishing to relax on the river, Rivertime – a specially adapted boat to take wheel chairs, along with other boats will be running free river trips during the event.
The entry price to the event is £5.00 (Free entry for Carers). There will be food and musical entertainment throughout the day. If you would like a trade stand at this event in order to promote your organisation the cost is £30.00
Come along and enjoy a whole day of fun, adapted activities and relaxation and cheer on the teams participating in the exciting boat races.
