Masters Regatta Provides Fierce Competitive Racing Despite Covid Substitutions

The 2022 28th Henley Masters Regatta was held on Friday and Saturday (8-9 July).

With the benefit of excellent weather and racing conditions, over 1200 competitors from 145 different rowing clubs and 11 different countries, raced side by side on the 1000 metre course, from just above Temple Island to Upper Thames Rowing  Club.

In spite of last minute substitutions due to the current high levels of Covid, supporters and spectators were able to enjoy some thrilling competitive racing.

Local Henley club Upper Thames, who host the event, had a large entry and came away with six wins after some extremely competitive and hard fought races.

The regatta is run annually by over 100 volunteers and depends on volunteers ,sponsors  advertisers and supporters, whilst continuing to attract a growing reputation in the national and international masters rowing calendar.

Whilst the racing was fierce the bank-side atmosphere was uncrowded and pleasant.
