New Comedy & Music Nights at Drifters

A new comedy and music night comes to Henley next month, with national and international names alongside the best in local talent.

Taking place at Drifters Coffee House on Duke Street, Honk! sets out to provide entertainment in an informal setting at affordable prices. The first evening, on Wednesday 17 August, features New York comedians Arielle Dundas and Rebecca Kaplan, coming to Henley direct from Edinburgh, alongside Henley-born singer-songwriter Holly Shillito. After the first event sold out within days, a second show was added on Saturday 20 August 20 with Peep Show and Radio 4 star Isy Suttie. Making her much-anticipated return to live stand-up, the award-winning comedian, also a familiar face from QI and 8 Out of 10 Cats, comes to Henley with the final preview of her new show Jackpot, ahead of a West End run the following week and a UK tour in the autumn.

Honk! organiser Tom Ryan, previously programmer for Henley Literary Festival and the Kenton Theatre during its record-breaking 2017/18 seasons, said: “After working on some brilliant shows ranging from big names like Dara O’Briain, Jack Dee and Tom Allen to those just starting out, it’s exciting to be bringing top comedy back to Henley, alongside some brilliant music. From running Henley’s Santa’s Grotto over the last five years with Paula Price Davies we know how many lovely, non-traditional venues the town has and can’t wait to get started in Drifters, a fantastic independent café, and make this a regular thing.”

Tickets are £8 and are available online. Drifters will be open serving a wide range of drinks from 7pm, followed by the show from 8pm.
