Parkrun Invites Walkers to Parkwalk in October
Starting on Saturday (1 October) Henley parkrun are joining the global campaign to encourage people to walk the 5km course around 40 Acre Path off Tilebarn Close starting at 9am.
Henley parkrun volunteer Phil Stubbington said, ” We would like to encourage many more people to take part in parkrun, especially those who want to walk, and so the whole of October is parkwalk at parkun month! Of course, people are always welcome to walk at parkrun, but this is a special, global campaign to really celebrate those who walk at our events and encourage thousands more to do so.”
Nearly 900,000 different people have walked at parkrun, with more than 13,000 people walking every single week. There is no cut-off time and thousands of people take over an hour to complete the event. Every parkrun event across the world has at least one volunteer Tail Walker, who is the person at the back who always finishes last.
Phil added, “We all know the incredible benefits that walking has on our physical, mental and social health and wellbeing.”
