A footpath connecting Newtown Road and Mill Lane will hopefully reopen after being closed in 2015 after Henley Manor Care home on Mill Lane blocked it with a bin store. A new planning application has been submitted by Henley Manor Care Home to SODC for the construction of a new footpath and relocation of the bin store.
Henley Mayor, Councillor Michelle Thomas has been campaigning since 2015 to get the footpath reopened. Michelle submitted an application for the footpath to be added to the designated maps under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 along with photographic evidence, maps and witness statements which proves that the footpath was used for the last 20 years in 2016.
At the Town Council Planning Meeting last week, Michelle said she was looking forward to the reopening after 7 years and she was was recently asked by one of the care home residents when she visited the home whether she would be doing a ribbon cutting ceremony!
