Giggling Squid New Menu What a Thai Treat
The Giggling Squid in Hart Street had a really lovely convivial atmosphere on Friday evening when we were invited to enjoy their new menu.
On stepping through the door, our waiter EK looked after us well throughout our very pleasurable evening.
We decided to share the Chang Mai sharing dish of Hawker-Style Moo Ping (pork kebabs), Salt & Pepper Squid, Spring Rolls, and the new Giggling Wings which were beautifully presented in a large basket with three different dipping sauces. The crispy Spring Rolls were unusually cut in half but what a difference this made to eating them more easily. We particularly loved the squid which was plentiful, succulent and in large pieces and the sticky and sweet and sour sauce on the chicken wings was really tasty.
For main course, we chose the unusual Turmeric Sea Bass Parcel which came wrapped up in a banana leaf which was beautifully cooked with just the right amount of turmeric and Thai spices and was served with a stir fry of broccoli, sweetheart cabbage and Thai shallots which accompanied the dish really well. The other main we chose was the Paneang chicken red curry which was deliciously creamy with added coconut milk and fragranced finely with sliced lime leaves.
After the first two courses we didn’t have much room for dessert so we shared the delicious Melting Heart Chocolate Dessert which had a sublime molten chocolate core and was beautifully presented with cut fruit and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
