A new environmental award launches on 1 April. The charity Thames Rivers Trust (TRT) is looking to give special recognition to a deserving individual whose work has delivered a positive impact for rivers within the Thames River Basin.
TRT is welcoming applications from charities and not for profit organisations in the Thames River Basin, looking to nominate an individual from their organisation or group. The TRT Peter Spillett Award is an opportunity to raise the profile of the nominee’s achievements, their organisation and rivers in their catchment.
The new annual award is in memory of Peter Spillett (pictured below), a TRT Trustee for more than 10 years who sadly passed away last year.
“Peter cared passionately about improving the Thames rivers and the wildlife that they sustain. As a Trustee he gave his time and expertise generously to try to ensure that decisions made by organisations working in the Thames Valley and London improved the biodiversity of the river and its tributaries”, said TRT Chairman Dave Wardle.
The nominees can be an outstanding member of staff or a volunteer. The Trust wants to hear about those who have delivered an exceptional project for river resilience or have innovated, inspired and gone above and beyond. Full details, including the rules and the online application form can be found on the TRT website:
The TRT Peter Spillett award for this year is open from 1 April 2023 and closes 31 October 2023.
