Henley Society Music on the Lawn Hit Event Returns for Second Year

The Henley Society members enjoyed the second Music on the Lawn event yesterday (Sunday) at Remenham Club after it was a huge hit with members last year.

Members enjoyed dancing to music by Barry Owen and the Main Attraction and a barbecue laid on by local butcher, Calnans of Watlington.  The event was another sold-out success.

Chairman Geoff Luckett welcomed guests and said, “Thank you for your support and we hope you have a fantastic afternoon and that we keep dry.  Unfortunately the Mayor who was going to open the proceedings is unwell today but we’ve got very able deputy in the form of Councillor Stefan Gawrysiak who is a Town, District and County Councillor and I’m sure he’ll be pleased to hear from you on any comments you have got.”

Stefan said, “I know absolutely what The Henley Society does.  You are fantastic organisation.  I’m going to praise the Executive Committee of the Society who work so hard for the fabric of the town.  I have been on Henley Town Council Planning for 8 years and I know that the contribution your planning committee make in response to all of the applications that come through Henley Town Council.  I’m also going to praise Julian Brookes for doing a fantastic job at the planning appeal for the Premier Inn which was turned down.  I’ve seen the notes that Julian made, they were extensive, copious and clear and clinical.  Well done for that.  Two other people, I’m going to praise Geoff as your Chairman who is hard working and dedicated and attends the planning meetings every 2 weeks as well as Full Council meetings.  The Henley Society definitely keeps Henley Town Council on our toes and there are things we miss and things we’re not very good at but we have go The Henley Society to actually do fantastic job.”
