Families Enjoy Great Nomad & YMCA Community Day in the Sunshine

Families enjoyed the Nomad and YMCA community day yesterday afternoon on the YMCA field in the sunshine.

Guests had a great time with all the free activities on offer including bouncy castle, slide and obstacle course, face painting, cake decorating, visits from the police and fire service, bike repairs and complimentary food from the barbecue.  Roger Cole, a Nomad Trustee for many years, kindly returned to Henley specially to offer bike servicing for the event.

Anita who came with her two girls who are 12 and 13 said, “It’s the first time I’ve come to this event.  Over the summer I’ve come to a lot of Nomad events and it was advertised.  It’s lovely to bring people together.  It’s been really nice and we’ve been really lucky with the weather.  It’s absolutely brilliant that everything is free including the barbecue particularly today when everything is so expensive.  Normally a bouncy castle would be £1 for like 3 goes. It’s great there’s also a free bike service and repair.  That’s blessing.  Looking after a bike can be expensive.”

Lisa Grant, CEO of Henley YMCA said, “It was another successful YMCA/Nomad Community Day which was well attended by families from the local community and YMCA tenants alike. As always, the bouncy castles and BBQ were very popular. This year there was the added attraction of the bike repair shop and cake decorating stall. There was a great atmosphere that was enhance by the fact that the rain managed to hold off.

“The Community Day was even more important this year given the current economic climate and cost of living situation. It provided a welcome break from all the doom and gloom going on around us all and proved how important it is to maintain a sense of community.”

I would like to thank Nomad for arranging the entertainment and their continued partnership with Henley YMCA.”

Tim Prior from Nomad added, “Nomad were really pleased with the community event held in partnership with the Henley YMCA. It was really well attended by lots of local families. It’s a great way to build good community spirit and it was brilliant to see young people of all ages having lots of fun! “
