Sacred Heart Pupils Host Toy & Book Sale for Morocco and Libya Earthquake Appeals

Pupils in Year 6 at Sacred Heart School organised a toy and book sale yesterday in aid of the Morocco and Libya earthquake appeals and raised nearly £250.
As well as the children bringing in donations of their toys and books, the children donated sweets and chocolates for prizes for a raffle which were then put into hampers and gifts bags with the help from TA, Mrs Peters.  They also designed the posters to advertise the event.
Mrs Park, Year 6 teacher said, “The children have been very enthusiastic and interested about the affect of the earthquakes.  Thank you to everyone who donated, to the parents who have helped and to Mrs Peters who has done most of the work.  The children helped choose who we should support at the beginning of the school year.  As part of LiveSimply award, we decided that we would hold this sale and they have brought in the all the donations and planted the spider plants which are also on sale.”
The LiveSimply award is a initiative for schools to commit to 9 faith inspired actions demonstrating you are living simply, sustainably, and in solidarity with the world’s poorest communities.
Pupil Finlay said, “I’m really excited to be doing the sale today.  I brought in some toys, a puzzle and some fidget things.  I think it is important as everyone needs some help at some point in their life.  Right now the people in Morocco and Libya are those people who need help.  The money will go towards food and supplies for people to rebuild their lives.”
