Henley Players Present Classic Comedy Pygmalion

Henley Players next production is Pygmalion opening next week on 20 March at The Kenton.

Pygmalion is considered George Bernard Shaw’s funniest play with numerous performances on stage, film and TV, as well as in many other languages. Eliza Dolittle and Professor Higgins have captivated audiences for over a century played by actors ranging from Leslie Howard to Peter O’Toole and Gertrude Lawrence to Diana Rigg. Not to mention Pygmalion providing the script for the musical version, My Fair Lady.

Strong characters and a great wit animate this classic comedy and the themes of social mobility and women’s empowerment are as relevant today as when Pygmalion was first performed, over a century ago.

Henley Players productions are always well performed with Peter O’Sullivan (Profesor Higgins), Mike Mungarvan (Colonel Pickering) and Christie Southwick (Eliza Doolittle) returning in leading parts after their brilliant performances in A Bunch of Amateurs last October.  It promises to be a great night out whilst supporting our local theatre and amateur dramatics.

Pygmalion will be performed from 20–23 March 7.30pm with a 2.30pm Matinee on Saturday 23 March. Box Office 01491 525050
