Council Refuses Proposal for Phone Mast on Makins Recreation Ground

A proposal from EE to install a 5G phone mast at Makins Recreation Ground has been rejected by Henley Town Council who own the land.

The proposal was discussed in the confidential session of the Finance, Strategy & Management committee.  No planning application had been submitted.

A planning application for a 15 metre 5G mobile mast was submitted by CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd next to Swiss Farm on the Marlow Road in September 2021 to SODC and was recommended refusal by the Town Council for adverse impact on the rural street scene, the proximity to residential properties and impact on their amenity. SODC refused the application on the same reasons and the impact on landscape qualities of the Chilterns AONB and the setting of the adjacent Henley Main Conservation Area.
