Autumn walk and lunch raises £750 for Lowland Rescue
A picturesque autumn walk through the South Oxfordshire countryside has helped raise £750 for Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire, supporting the vital work of local search and rescue volunteers.
On a crisp October morning, 30 locals gathered for a guided walk taking in the beautiful sights of Binfield Heath, Rotherfield Greys, and Henley, before returning to Shiplake for a well-earned lunch. The event was both a social occasion and a chance to give back to the community.
The money raised will fund the purchase of three new life jackets for the Lowland Rescue team, enhancing the safety of volunteers as they carry out water-based searches for missing people across Oxfordshire and beyond.
Alex Bradbury, fundraiser and event organiser, extended her heartfelt thanks: “I’m so grateful to everyone who took part or donated. Every pound makes a difference, and this equipment will directly help keep our volunteers safe while they’re working to bring loved one’s home.”
Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire are also organising a magical ‘Carols by Candlelight’ evening on Saturday 29th November at St Peter’s & St Paul’s Church, Shiplake. The event promises a joyful start to the festive season, featuring Search and Rescue dogs, professional dancers, and live musicians in a candlelit setting.
