Exiles Sunday victory!

SATURDAY

It was the 1st Round in the Cup and the Henley Exiles were the visitors to the Atrium Health Club to play Reading City Youths.

It was a disastrous start for the Exiles as just 10 seconds into the game they gave away a penalty for the home side to take the lead.

Chasing the game and frantic to get back into it quickly, Henley conceded again.

As the half wore on Henley were working their way back into the contest, and when the ball fell kindly to Sully Priestley he tucked it away neatly into the top corner.

Unfortunately, that was as good as it got for the visitors however and they came crashing out of the cup with a crushing 7-1 defeat.

SUNDAY

Henley Exiles were hosted at Prospect Park by Sally Donkeys FC on Sunday.

Before too long it was 0-1 to the visitors when Will Aldridge’s far post corner was met by Will Sheard to head the ball into the back of the net.

One became two when Josh Gay floated a lovely free kick into the box that caused mayhem, then Sully Priestley got the vital touch that let the ball fall kindly for Lincoln Winters to score from close range.

Sally Donkeys FC took advantage of some miscommunication at the back to make the score 1-2.

Henley were then awarded a couple of penalty’s that Owen Darani tucked away comfortably without fuss.

Just before the break the home team got another goal back to keep the game interesting and the score line close.

The second half continued in a similar fashion to the first and before too long the Exiles added to their score when Mikey Dowling put it on a plate for Sergio Mota to score with a poacher’s finish.

However, the Donkey’s were still being as stubborn as a mule and wouldn’t give up the game without a fight. Scoring from a straight ball into the Henley box to make the score 3-5 with 15 minutes to go.

But the Exiles wouldn’t be denied the victory their hard working performance deserved and Sergio Mota turned provider this time for Will Sheard to cap off the scoring and complete his brace.

An entertaining 3-6 win for the Exiles on the road!
