Arts Society funds live visual music concert for young children
Chamberhouse Winds gave a live music concert to 500 children from three local primary schools last Wednesday thanks to funding by The Arts Society of Henley (TASH) Community Arts programme.
Pupils from Valley Road, Sacred Heart and and Trinity Primary Schools enjoyed a live performance of Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev given by professional musicians. Through the Community Arts programme, TASH supports a number of local arts initiatives in the visual, creative and performing arts. On this occasion, the musicians visited the three primary schools and delivered an inspiring programme that certainly caught the imagination of their young audience.
Victoria Harding from Trinity Primary School said “The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were captivated from start to finish. It was truly special for them to experience live music first-hand, something many of them may not otherwise have the opportunity to do. The performance was both engaging and inspiring, and it has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on our pupils. Opportunities like this enrich our students’ learning in ways that go far beyond the classroom, and we cannot thank you enough for making this possible.”
Debbie Artherton from Sacred Heart schools said “We were treated to a performance of Peter and the Wolf this morning, performed by Chamberhouse Winds. The children were enthralled throughout the whole performance.”
Simon Salisbury, who organised these concerts on behalf of TASH said. “Live music has such a profound effect on all of us and in these times when so little money is being directed towards music in schools, this was a wonderful opportunity for these young people to experience the excitement of attending a live concert.”
