Historic buildings open again for Heritage Open Days

Historic buildings will be open as part of Heritage Open Days including the Masonic Thames Lodge on Reading Road, Kings Arm’s Barn and Quakers Meeting House.  Full details, opening dates and times are listed below.

Masonic Lodge, Reading Road
12-13 September
11.00-2.00pm

Step behind the doors of one of Henley’s most intriguing hidden buildings and experience a side of local history rarely seen by the public.

Discover beautifully preserved rooms, symbolic features, ceremonial traditions, and the stories behind one of the world’s oldest social organisations. Friendly lodge members will be on hand throughout the event to answer questions, share insights, and separate myth from reality in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Visitors can enjoy informal guided tours, historical displays, and learn more about the lodge’s charitable work and connection to the Henley community through the years.

Visit the Kings Arms Barn, a beautiful old building that started life in 1601/02 as stables at the rear of 32-26 Market Place.

Quakers Meeting House
Saturday 19 September
2.00-5.00pm

An exhibition Memories of the Working Lives of Quakers in Henley recalling the memories of a 17th century maltster, an 18th century clockmaker, a 19th century shopkeeper and Mayor of Henley who were all buried in the graveyard at the end of the garden and read about the memories of Henley Quakers today. All are welcome; assistance dogs only please.
