Council gives out grants to local organisations
The Town Council’s Finance & Strategy Committee agreed to fund grants of £8,760 last week to eight not-for-profit organistions.
The eight organisations were Regatta for the Disabled (for specialised disabled toilets), Henley Youth Festival (for schools programme of shows and workshops), St Mary’s Church towards their new lighting, Berkshire MS Therapy Centre, Home-Start Southern Oxfordshire, Henley Exiles (Football Team) towards cost of training facilities, Henley Arts Trail and Sacred Heart Pre-School towards their garden renovation.
The cost of the St Mary’s Church new lighting system is £195,000 and is now urgent as the existing system is failing nearly on a daily basis. Henley Mayor, Councillor Ian Reissmann originally proposed that the Council didn’t give anything to this project, however Councillor Michelle Thomas stepped in to suggest that the Council should make a donation of £1,000 to show their support for the church. They have applied for grants from Benefact Trust, Oxford Historic Churches Trust, Historic England and Diocese of Oxford. St Mary’s would welcome donations from residents towards this project and these can be made here https://stmaryshenley.org/friends-of-st-marys/
