Artistic Alchemy exhibition

A new exhibition at the Old Fire Station Gallery (15-20 October) entitled ‘Artistic Alchemy’ speaks of the incredible blend of talent in this show and their search for a more beautiful world through the expression of unique creative talents.

The four artists met on local arts trails and share an appreciation of the magic of our planet earth. This, one off exhibition, will display silver jewellery, ceramics and sculpture, framed textiles and wall hangings, contemporary batik artworks and acrylic landscapes.

Grant Forsyth winner of the designer of the month at the Forge Gallery in Hatton Garden for his hand made chains, an ancient skill and a dying craft. Grant shows his skill and artistry in his geology inspired, reclaimed silver and gold jewellery. Grant wants to look beyond, to find the hidden truths and beauty. To reflect who we are. Grant’s unique jewellery explores texture found within earth, bark ,stone, textiles and contains real gemstones. Grant’s interest in mythology, the deities, their stories and attributes inspires pieces fit for the gods!

Helen Ormerod is creating pottery that blends artistry with the natural world. Her work includes sculptural pieces designed to enhance garden settings, as well as functional bowls and vases that bring handcrafted beauty into everyday life. Helen is especially drawn to the unpredictable magic of glazing—how colours and surfaces transform in the kiln to create unique, one-of-a-kind effects.

Nina O Connell has continued to explore the wonder of the changing face of nature, the beauty of the overlooked, local areas inspiring her work. Bold colours and texture are evident in her recent acrylics and batiks. Nina has been exploring how light or water plays with the colours within the landscape. Recently Nina has adopted a looser style, enjoying mark making along with using a vibrant colour palette in her acrylic paintings.

Karen Tomalin is exhibiting her free style quilts and wall-hangings inspired by the landscape. Karen has recently been exploring the chaos of stitch art, enjoying the serendipity of how the work evolves, using more texture in her pictures.

Open daily between 10.30 till 16.30.
