Henley Fringe Hamlet – ‘Captivates the Magic’

The scene was set very early on during this amazing one man performance of Shakespeare’s classic Hamlet. You could be forgiven for wondering how one person could do justice to such a play, and manage to hold an audience by playing different characters at a pace. However, the scene was set right from the beginning and as soon as the play began the audience were enthralled by the fantastic performance put on by the Revolve Theatre Company. You could not fault the fantastic acting, stage works and effects which made this play exciting and captivating.

The way in which the characters Hamlet, Ophelia, Horatio, Claudius, The Queen and Laertes were played evoked a mixture of emotions which had the audience gasping one minute and laughing the next. The way in which the actor glided from character to character was captivating and incredibly talented.

Whether you are a Shakespeare fan of old or are looking to introduce Shakespeare to your children, I would thoroughly recommend Revolve’s One Man Hamlet as a unique and exciting way to watch. As a Shakespeare fan myself, Revolve completely encapsulated the magic and excitement of Shakespeare whilst also showing the fun side of his works, completely stripping away the pre-conceived idea that Shakespeare is dull and boring.

Hamlet is on again tonight (Thursday 24 July) at 8.30opm and tomorrow (Friday 25 July at 6.30 and 8.30pm.  To book tickets, go to www.henleyfringe.org
