To celebrate the start of the school summer holidays and Love Parks Week (a Keep Britain Tidy initiative) Henley Mayor, Councillor Kellie Hinton is organising the first Mayor’s Party in the Park this Friday (21 July) between 4.00-8.00pm on Mill Meadows.
There will be local bands performing on the bandstand and they’ll be family attractions and food and drinks stalls. The event is being sponsored by Brakspear.
Kellie said, “As I mentioned in my Mayoral speech, parks are a huge focus of mine and I will take any opportunity to showcase our beautiful parks in Henley. Every year a group of Mums from all the schools head down to Mill Meadows at the end of the school year, on the last day. This year I thought it would be great if we had a party to celebrate the start of the summer holidays and give people something worth coming down for. We will have attractions and food and drink stalls but if people just want to come and enjoy the music with a picnic, as always they are more than welcome. It’s mainly an opportunity for the children to blow off some steam after a hard year of learning. I would like to thank the businesses who have been very generous in donating raffle prizes. Whilst the event itself is free, we will be raising funds with the raffle and a bar. The money will go to the Mayor’s charities, which this year are the four state schools.”
