Two More Shops to Close

Boatique on Friday Street and Whittington Fine Art on Hart Street have announced they are closing their doors this Summer.

Boatique was originally started by Gillian Nahun who opened the shop in Hart Street in 2012 before moving to Friday Street in November 2014.  Jules Campbell took over the business in April 2017.

Jules Campbell announced the forthcoming closure on social media this morning “With regret I write to tell you that we are closing down Boatique in the Summer. Following a review of the retail environment within which the business is operating, we have decided to cease trading. We would like to offer our sincere thanks to all our customers who have supported us since the beginning. It has been a wonderful journey. Thank you.”

Whittington Fine Art has traded for 26 years and has a gallery in Henley for 16 years.  Originally in both shops at 26 and 28 Hart Street before Henley Hearing Care took over 28 Hart Street in 2015. Over the years, it has had some difficult trading times particularly in 2013 when it was targeted by thieves who stole bronze sculptures three times in six months.

Barry Whttington who runs Whittington Fine Art said, “The gallery will be open as usual until 16th June. I would like to thank all of the customers that have supported my Gallery over the last 26 years. If you are interested in any paintings or Bronze Sculpture before I close please do not hesitate to contact me or drop into the Gallery, it would be nice to see you all. There are still hundreds of paintings and pieces of bronze sculpture for you to choose from,  I am sure we can come to some arrangement on prices.”

Police patrol on the streets might help with both traffic and public misuse of the park spaces.
Please look after the shopkeepers, and help the businesses to stay open.
