Acacia Lodge Care Home Manager Finalist in Awards

Thelma Clutson, Care Home Manager of Acacia Lodge Care Home in Quebec Road, Henley has been selected as a finalist for “The Care Home Manager Award” at The Great British Care Awards 2018.

Residents, families and staff say Thelma has a huge heart and is incredibly committed to making sure that life in Acacia Lodge is great for everyone. Despite her years of experience Thelma is not afraid to embrace and explore new innovative ideas if they can possibly improve the quality of care for her residents. Thelma has shown that she’s an industry leader, by achieving an overall Good and Outstanding in Responsive in the latest CQC inspection.

Showing her commitment to supporting her staff following the sad loss of one of her nurses Ivy, Thelma along with her activity team organised an amazing themed Safari day as way of paying tribute to Ivy. Residents, relatives, staff and Henley Mayor were invited to be involved to acknowledge the contribution Ivy had made to her residents and the home, in what turned out to be a very moving event.  St Mary’s School children were invited and the feedback received following the event was typical of the thanks Thelma is always shown for going above and beyond her job remit.

In her nomination it says, “Thelma truly cares that the lives of those she touches, is in some way positively improved. The many reviews and thank you cards reflect this. Thelma is also a technology leader, embracing all the care related software and hardware tools that have been introduced over the years. An example would be piloting new technology in her home, called Earlysense. A continuous resident monitoring solution designed to enhance individual safety and reduce risk for general care.”

Aileen Nimmo, Sales and Marketing Manager at LRH Care Homes said, “Our organisation is proud to have Thelma as a registered home manager in our group and for the reasons above and many more, we feel that Thelma is worthy of not just a nomination but of winning this prestigious award.”

The winner will be announced on the 3 November at the Amex stadium, Brighton we have our fingers crossed for Thelma.

I work at Acacia, we are one big family, most of us treat each other as family, I don’t know of any other work place where the boss picks you up a 6.15 am, then picks up another member of your work family to take you to a hospital half an hour away so that you are there for an operation and has supported you no end up to that point. She’s a star and so deserves to win this award.
