Cafe and Barbers on the Move

Hot Gossip on Friday Street has closed this week and will be moving and reopening in the old Bohun Gallery site on Reading Road. Henley Barbers on Station Road are also having to relocate.

Joe Fiumara owner of Henley Barbers said on Facebook, “We will be closing down due to greedy landlords. Henley Barbers will be moving into a new unit still in Henley.”

Hot Gossip cafe is owned by Lorraine Hillier and has been open for 12 years. In a note stuck on the door she says “There are other plans for here now and as I’m not ready to retire I’m delighted to announce we have found a new home.” Plans are that the cafe will reopen in October after a planning application will be needed for change of use and the refurbishment completed.

Lorraine said “Very sad of course to be leaving Friday Street. I would like to thank all our customers over the years whom I hope will return when we re-open. We loved that many brought their dogs in. I know many actually pulled their owners in, looking forward to the doggy treats! I am pleased to see many more places welcome them now. The children to whom I am known as Mrs.George’s sister!”

We will miss our colleagues and friends in the street, our regulars and sharing all the hot gossip! I have been lucky to have had lovely people working with me and fortunate that we will be staying together in our new home.

Thank you to Wilkins for sponsoring my coffee cups – (which I can now say are fully recyclable!) they did an amazing removal of the shop. All my suppliers, locally –  Lawlors bakery for their superb bread, Libby for her delicious homemade cakes and Debbie for her delicious rock cakes and flapjacks and Blackwoods for their quality sandwich fillings.”
“The good news is we will be re-opening in Henley – it is a changing town as with all nationwide, but
looking forward to the next chapter. I am fortunate to have a supportive network of family and friends
who have and continue to help me enormously.”
