Children Get to Meet Santa at Badgemore School Xmas Fair
The queue to meet Santa was long all afternoon at Badgemore School Christmas Fair on Saturday. The children’s little faces lit up when they saw him and he asked the children if they were working hard at school before giving them a present. Poppy-May (pictured above) asked Santa for a small PC.
As well as Santa there were all the usual things you would expect at a Christmas Fair including a tombola and a raffle. Children from Cedar Class (Year 5/6) had enterprise stalls selling things that they had made which included coasters, bookmarks, postcards, fridge magnets and Christmas tree decorations. Each group were given £5 a few weeks ago to spend on materials and were tasked with making as much profit as possible at the fair.
Children and families were invited to enter two Christmas competitions – Bake-off Christmas cake and Design a Christmas Card. Nicola Taylor from Lawlor’s Bakers judged the cakes and artist Belinda judged the cards. Both judges said, it was really difficult to decide the winners. The winners were:
Bake-Off Christmas Cake – Octavia Ashcroft (EYFS/KS1), Tula Banks (KS2) and Family – Sara and Deborah Coates
Christmas Cards – Elodie Robinson, Jemima Cooper, Stevie Gardner and Cayla
Headteacher, Tim Hoskins said afterwards, “I’m pleased that we raised over £1000 which is great news for the school. The support for the event was fantastic and I was delighted that so many members of our wider community joined us to celebrate the start of Christmas.”
