Henley Royal Regatta have launched their Henley At Home digital celebration event last week which will take place over the weekend of 4-5 July.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic all sporting events this summer have been cancelled. In its 181 year history, the Regatta has only previously been cancelled during the World Wars.
The HRR YouTube channel will bring you the best of the coverage from the last five years, wonderful memories and exclusive interviews with Henley legends past and present. There will be a total of ten hours of content streamed as live on their YouTube channel, over what would have been the Regatta weekend.
The action will get underway at midday on Saturday 4 July. The schedule of events will announced over the coming weeks and will be published on their website at www.hrr.co.uk/henley-at-home. They are encouraging the Henley family from around the world to share photos of their garden parties, outfits and picnic celebrations using #HenleyAtHome.
Sir Steve Redgrave, Chairman of the Regatta’s Committee of Management said, “In a year sadly overshadowed by COVID-19, when we are unable to host a Regatta, we will be pleased to celebrate what makes Henley Royal Regatta so special with our Henley at Home weekend. We think that the wider HRR family will want to mark the weekend so we are adding a schedule of interviews and outstanding rowing action from the last five years to support the special atmosphere.”
We are delighted that HRR are supporting the Herald’s Oarsome Street Party and House and Boat Competition by donating one of their bespoke Henley at Home afternoon tea hampers for four including a bottle of Moët & Chandon Impérial. To register your street party (Saturday 4 July) or competition entry email firstname.lastname@example.org. Terms and conditions apply. Entries from over 18s only. Please drink responsibly.
Secretary and Chief Executive of HRR Daniel Grist said, “Henley Royal Regatta is thrilled to support the Herald’s Regatta celebrations and are pleased to be able to offer one of our bespoke Henley Royal Regatta afternoon tea hampers, produced in partnership with official partner Moët & Chandon and British Fine Foods, as a prize for their competition. The initiative ties perfectly with our own Henley at Home activities. We hope everyone will share photos of their garden parties, outfits and picnic celebrations at #HenleyAtHome to mark what would have been the Regatta weekend.”
