It is with a heavy heart that Liz Felix has taken the hard decision to close her shop on the Reading Road from August. She hopes to return to Henley next Spring, in a pop-up shop in time for the busy event season.
Milliner Liz opened her Henley shop in 2014 and has made stunning couture hats for many including former Prime Minster Theresa May. Theresa first wore one of Liz’s hats in November 2015 when she was Home Secretary for the Chinese President’s state visit to the UK. The shop also sells men’s hats, gloves, handbags, accessories and clothes from local designers.
Liz said, “2020 has been extraordinary! Weddings postponed, Royal Ascot and our beloved Regatta cancelled along with so many other events. This has decimated my, along with others, businesses. Despite support from my landlord and the government the shop is no longer viable, so I have taken the decision to close it and work from home.
I hope there will be an opportunity next year for me to open a shop perhaps on a short term basis, so this is not the last you’ll see or hear of me! Yes, I am saddened but I’m also realistic and know that this is the right way forward for me. To this end I will be having a MASSIVE SALE! Some items will be exempt (face masks & some couture pieces) but everything else will be half price or less. Sale will commence Saturday 27th June and end on 22nd August.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the following for their support during my time in Henley: Nigel for being my rock, Lisa for stepping up and stepping in, Laurence Morris for his words of wisdom in the early days when I nearly gave up, everyone of my customers and friends, and finally Helen Barnett and the HBP community.”
