Rotary Clubs Set Ice Hill Challenge to Replace Marathon

The Henley Rotary Clubs who co-organise the Henley Half Marathon and 10K run have come with the Ice Hill challenge for runners who are missing the annual race due to Covid-19 which was due to take place on 11 October.

The Ice Hill Challenge is a route which forms part of the course of the course of the Henley Half Marathon, starting at the foot of Ice House Lane – opposite to the entrance to Toad Hall Garden Centre, Marlow Road, Henley  – all the way up the hill, around the small triangle next to Fawley Church and back down to the start. The total distance is about 5.4 k/3.4miles and the increase in elevation from the start to the Church is about 105m/345 feet.

Runners are asked to choose any time between 1 September and 11 October 2020, to record your time on your favourite app and submit your time to icehousehillchallenge@gmail.com (along with gender, age and anything else of interest such as running with dog/children etc) which we will then collate and make available to all entrants.  Entry is free and charitable donations welcome which will be given to Sue Ryder South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub.

Peter Wilkinson said, “No marshalling, facilities, goodies or chip timing – just a bit of fun where you can prove how fit you are, continue your training and help us with a donation to charity.”
