Henley-on-Thames Community Poppy Appeal is seeking volunteers to fundraise for few hours a year as its iconic street collectors during Remembrance, as well as fundraise with special events and tasks.
Funding to safeguard the welfare of the Armed Forces community in need has never been more vital. There is a growing demand for the support needed by service men and women and their families to help them recover from personal traumas resulting from recent conflicts, including those in Afghanistan and Iraq. And the ongoing disadvantages faced by veterans and members of the Armed Forces caused by mental and physical ill-health and financial hardship.
Community Poppy Appeal collectors have been at the heart of the Royal British Legion’s charity aims to support the Armed Forces Community for more than 100 years. After their absence due to the pandemic, Poppy Appeal collectors will be back in our community this year for two weeks from Saturday 30 October.
