Rebecca Parker, aged 10, a 1st Henley Brownie has been awarded the highest Brownie badge, a Gold Award after completing a number of badges and meeting activities.
Despite the pandemic which meant that Brownies had to meet online for 6 months, Rebecca still managed to complete all the syllabus to obtain the Gold award.
She completed her Aviation, Collecting, Charities, Inventing, Mindfulness, Dancing and Painting interest badges.
Rebecca said, “My favourite badge was Aviation. I wasn’t sure what would be involved to begin with but it was so fun making flying rockets and planes, and you got to be so creative with what you made.”
As part of her Gold badge she had to find out about a charity and tell the other Brownies. Rebecca chose Nomad and the Henley Food Bank. She asked the Brownies to bring in a donation for a Christmas food parcel and then took the donations down to the food bank at the D:two where she helped sort and pack some parcels.
Brownie Leader, Michaela Clarke said, “Rebecca has had such a stop start Brownie journey over the last 18 months and I’m so pleased she managed to complete her Gold Award in such a short time with lots of hard work at home. She has been an excellent Sixer too, welcoming new Brownies. I am very proud of her and I shall miss her. I hope she will now enjoy new adventures at Guides.”
