Stocks Celebrates 5th Birthday on High Street

Stocks on Bell Street celebrated their 5th birthday on Thursday last week.  Opening in 2017, they sell an amazing selection of gifts, cards, jewellery, women’s clothing, and homeware.  On Thursday they invited some of their suppliers and customers to join them for a glass of fizz to celebrate and offered a special birthday promotion of a gift bag worth over £50 if you spent £150 in store.

Owner Lise Harrow said, “Henley is becoming such a destination town. Because of all the different independent shops on the high street it makes it more interesting.  I think we’re doing well because people are still looking for something a bit different and bit unique and not something that you see on every high street and we always love a bit of colour which has become a bit of trademark for us.  We sell a range of things including effortless, smart clothing.  We have so many regular customers who we have got to know so well over the 5 years which is lovely.”

Talking about the last 2 years, Lise added, “It’s been a funny couple of years.  We went online more so than we did before.  Our own website has grown enormously but now we are open again people love the personal experience to come in to touch and feel.  We’re doing a lot of Instagram and keeping it fresh.  It’s working well for us.  We did click and collect over lockdown and we did a lot of personal deliveries as well.  I think people have come back to the high street because they want it to thrive and strive and they like a town that has got a buzz and is busy.  Now people are shopping a bit more local and supporting the local shops.”

Regular customer, Gilly said, “The colours always attract me in.  The people in the shop are welcoming even if you don’t buy they are happy for you to have a look around.”  Gilly was buying some earrings for herself, she added, “It is a shop that you want to spoil yourself.”

Stocks are also holding a raffle in aid of Ukraine to win a cashmere jumper and gift bag for the next few days.
