Knole Homes have submitted a planning application for a piece of land formerly car parking spaces at the entrance to Newtown Road for a terrace of 3 houses.
The applicant sought pre-planning advice originally for four properties on the site. In the SODC decision report for the pre-planning, it said, “Whilst the principle of development would be acceptable, officers are concerned about the acceptability of residential development of the site in the layout and form shown both in terms of its visual dominance and loss of residential amenity to the gardens of nearby residential occupiers.”
Henley Town Council recommended refusal of the planning application when it was reviewed at the Planning Committee last week and stated, “Recommend refusal on the grounds of poor design, being out of character with the area and over development.”
The planning application will be reviewed by South Oxfordshire District Council who will have the final say on the development.
