Living Advent Calendar to Reopen Festive Doors After 2 Years

The Henley Living Advent Calendar will open the large door of the Town Hall on Thursday (1 December) to reveal the first surprise performance at 6.15pm in Market Place.

Back after 2 years because of the pandemic, this amazing festive community event will bring together entertainers, venues, partners and charities to bring together a 30 minute performance with refreshments every evening up to Christmas Eve.  This year there are six new venues – Thames Lodge, Trinity Hall, The Relais, and The Anchor and The Catherine Wheel pubs as well as hidden gems like the Simmons & Sons secret garden behind their offices on Bell Street.

Each night money will be raised for a different local charity through a raffle with some great prizes.  In 2019, the Living Advent Calendar raised a record-breaking total for the event of £7,300.

LAC Organiser, Richard Rodway said, “In terms of this year’s event, I am really really pleased with this year’s line up, which I hope is a fitting fanfare and joyous celebration having been unable to put on the show for the last 2 years, and hopefully we will make Carolyn Molyneux (pictured in the centre above) proud who we sadly lost this year.  She had been a massive part of the event from the very beginning, and who was so looking forward to it coming back this year.”

“We kick off with something special in front of the Xmas tree in Falaise Square, and then it is very much almost a greatest hits line up of acts from previous years.  They were all so enthusiastic about performing after the extended break, and we’re only too happy to have them back .”

“24 nights, 24 performances, 24 very special experiences, and so do come along and join in the fun, to help us raise monies also for 24 deserving local good causes.”
