Wonderful Woodwind Winter Recital
Local pianist, Anita D’Attellis will be hosting her next Winter Recital, Wonderful Woodwind this Saturday (11 February) at St Mary’s Church, Wallingford.
The recital will include music by Mozart, Franck, Kalliwoda, Coleridge-Taylor, Dranishnikova and Poulenc and Anita will be joined by two wonderful musicians, Ewan Millar on oboe and Guylaine Eckersley on the bassoon. Ewan was a finalist in the BBC’s Young Musician of the Year Competition in 2020.
Anita says, “But, don’t be put off by the obscure-sounding list of composers!! This is a brilliantly varied and exciting programme of works and arrangements for oboe and bassoon. The Finale of the concert will be Poulenc’s Trio for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano, a real treat to play!”
Winter Recitals Wallingford is a chamber music series, with one concert giving a platform to talented young performers. It is a not-for-profit organisation and, since 2018, has raised £12,000 for charity. This year WRW will be raising funds for St. Mary’s Church and Sue Ryder. Anita’s husband, John Downing received support from Sue Ryder in 2019-2020 before he sadly passed away.
The recital starts at 7:30 pm at St Mary-le-more, Wallingford, the doors will open at 7:00 pm.
