Golf Captain John Raises £10K for Maggies Cancer Care Charity
Badgemore Park Golf Club’s 2022 Men’s Captain John Tugwell has raised £10,000 for Maggies Cancer Care charity during his captain’s year.
This was achieved thanks to the generosity of Badgemore members as well as others through various events throughout the year including John’s Drive-In, his Captain’s Day, an auction of golf vouchers and a longest day challenge completed by past Captain David Haddock.
John said, “It’s customary for the current Badgemore Captain to chose a charity and raise money for it during their captaincy. Watching club members lose their battles with cancer and having friends outside of the club suffering as well, I particularly wanted to chose a charity that supports not only people with cancer but their families and friends as well. Maggies fitted the bill and I’m delighted to have raised £10,000 for them.”
Orla Knox-Macaulay from Maggies said, “The support John and the Badgemore Park Golf Club has shown us has been invaluable. With the cost-of-living crisis, the Pandemic and rise in demand, having the backing of committed fundraisers like John has made such a difference to the work we do to support families in crisis. Cancer changes your life, and our ambition is to be there for everybody experiencing all that comes with it. John is helping us realise this. Thank you.
