Megan, a member of 1st Henley Guides has recently achieved the highest Guide Gold award and was presented with this at the last meeting of term.
To achieve the award, Megan took part in the normal range of Guide activities. These included learning First Aid, lighting fires, scavenger hunts and crafts. Other activities included learning to wire a plug and personal finance. She also explored soft skills such as decision making and leadership.
To complete the award Megan also gained interest badges in photography, navigating, Guiding traditions and upcycling. She also gained the Mixology and Conscious Consumer badges.
Guide Leader, Gill Chappell said, “Megan is only the second girl to achieve this award since it’s introduction in 2018. Megan’s time with the unit coincided with meetings being held on Zoom for a year during Covid. We are currently looking for new leaders for 1st Henley Guides to encourage and enable more girls to benefit from the experiences and opportunities offered by Girlguiding and to help other girls achieve the Gold award.”
