Golf Captain’s Day Thunderbolt and Lightning – Very, Very Frightening!
The Captain’s Day at Badgemore Park on Saturday had it all going on…
104 golfers started out on what was a lovely morning, only to be interrupted after 7 holes by what they all thought was thunder and lightning! What they discovered was that it was the gods celebrating Vice-captain’s Melvyn Keen (photo below) achieving his very first hole in one! It was decided that it was appropriate for everyone to return to the clubhouse to celebrate that with him. Play resumed after about an hour, and everyone happily made their way back onto the course to continue their rounds. The golfers enjoyed a great meal and camaraderie back in the clubhouse and celebrated the winners of the day.
Captain Leslie Hines said, “With thanks to all the supporters that helped make the day a great success; family, committee members, those that donated items for the raffle and auction, the bakers and halfway hut ladies and to all the staff at Badgemore. These days can only happen with the support that is provided, and I am so extremely thankful and humbled to have received this. Due to everyone’s kind generosity, we raised over £2,000 for Action for M.E. on the day. What a fantastic amount.”
