Low Hygiene Rating Awarded to Banana Tree Restaurant

Banana Tree on Hart Street which opened last December has been given a 2 out of 5 hygiene rating by South Oxfordshire District Council’s Environmental Health team after a visit to the restaurant on  17 January.

The inspectors judged the restaurant with regard to hygienic food handling, cleanliness and the condition of facilities and management of food safety. The cleanliness and condition of facilities and buildings were the contributing factors to the low rating which requires “necessary” improvement.

A spokesperson for Banana Tree Henley said: “We take hygiene extremely seriously, carrying out regular in-house checks as part of our compliance, so we’re disappointed that our kitchen fell below the standards. We have taken immediate steps since to rectify the situation, including work being done to the external structure at the rear of the property, and we will be inviting the EHO back to the restaurant swiftly to reassess.”
