New Wellbeing Festival With Music & Health at its Core

A new 3-day wellbeing festival HLTH is WLTH is taking place over from 31 May-2 June on Mill Meadows organised by 8Ray Group and the event was launched at The Green Room last Thursday evening.

Organisers describe it as not your typical wellbeing fest; it’s celebration of feeling good in your own skin. Whether you’re a fitness guru or just starting your wellness journey, there will be something for everyone.

The programme will include uplifting fitness classes including yoga and pilates, health talks that hit home, and family-friendly fun during the day including the Big Family Dance Off with John Johnny on Sunday. Friday night is comedy night with a line up from Honk! known for their sold-out comedy nights at The Relais with headliners Leah Davis, Fern Brady and Colin Hoult. There will be live music on Saturday and Sunday on the main stage from Coyote, Block on the Wall and John James Newman that’ll lift your spirits.

JJ from 8Ray Group said, “I am a huge advocate for mental health and wellbeing. I am a trustee at Riverside Counselling Service, Henley’s mental health charity and my wife is a psychotherapist working with young people so it’s very close to me. I have a vision of creating a wellbeing event in Henley that brings joy to our community, supports local businesses and raises needed funds for local charities.  I approached my Head of Events at 8RAY with the idea and we are now launching HLTH is WLTH which will be partnering with Henley Town Council.  I am so grateful for the support so far and we are wanting this to be a huge community event where we can all come together and feed are minds, bodies and soul with laughter, fun, fitness, music, wellbeing hacks and much more across the weekend.”

World leading Smart Wellness Coach and TV personality,  Dr Julia Jones aka Dr Rock will be appearing at the Hlth is Wlth Festival. She said, “I was lucky enough to visit the US Navy Seals in San Diego and met with physical training instructors who told me that they were using music to reduce anxiety in high pressure situations.  They were using music to improve sleep quality in hostile environments.  They were using music to increase pain tolerance.  They were using music to increase endurance, motivation, confidence because ears lead to the brain and not a dead end.  Every sound that goes into the brain triggers an electro-chemical with cascades of neurochemicals that change our mood and entire function of every cell in our body.  This blew my mind as I only thought of music as entertainment.  Music is so much more than that.  It is very powerful and nothing else like it.  I’m thrilled to be working with JJ on this great festival to bring science to the heart of this festival.”

Many health and fitness local companies have signed up already to part of the new festival.  Joanna from Fitness Space Gym said, “Fitness Space gym is all about community fitness to help people feel happy and healthy, the HiW event is a joy to be part of.  It is going to be great for the local businesses to come together in celebration to  share their passion for health. This is going to be such a unique event, we are really excited be part of it.”

The event will be supporting Riverside Counselling.  Suzy Hobbs, Trustee at Riverside Counselling said, “Riverside were there in our time of need, it was a stepping stone to be in the right place where we needed to be.  It is charity very close to my heart but I think it should be a charity that is close to everybody’s heart.  Mental health hits you when you don’t expect it.  I’m going through a really big thing with my daughter and I think it’s important to talk about it and  I think it is important to share.  I think as a community we can do great things and come together and support each other.  If we don’t get support, the charity will struggle and might not be here for our future generations.  As Hobbs of Henley we have taken on supporting Riverside for the next 2 years.”
