Burglary at St Mary’s Church

St Mary’s Church was broken into and items taken some time between 5.30pm (Sunday 17 March) and 7am today (Monday 18 March).

Rector, Father Jeremy Tayler said, “It looks quite professional: safes cracked, metal tested to check whether it’s silver or not. Most of our church vessels have been taken, as well as yesterday’s cash collections, and they’ve also done a fair bit of damage and made a lot of mess. No-one with any legitimate business was accessing or leaving the church between those times. Thank God no-one came to any harm.  Please pray for our church family. Please pray for the thieves, that they would come to repentance, and seek to make reparation for their crimes.”
The Church are asking the public if anyone noticed anything unusual between the hours mentioned above to contact the police on 101 quote crime reference 43240125424.
Entry into the church as gained by smashing a stained glass window on the church yard side of the church.
The Church will sadly remain closed until further notice.
Residents Jenny Brown and Emma Huggins Law have launched a Just Giving page to pay for the lost items.  You can donate via https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/StMarysHenley
