Henley Hawks 3 Narrowly Miss Out On Win Against Dean Dreamers

In their final game of the season, the Henley Hawks 4’s faced the formidable Dean Dreamers, ultimately falling short with a score-line of 28-25. The quarter scores reflected a challenging match for the Hawks, with Dean Dreamers leading 6-2 in the first quarter, 14-10 in the second, and 23-16 in the third. Despite trailing for most of the game, the Hawks mounted an impressive comeback in the final quarter, outscoring Dean Dreamers 9-5, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.
Aleesha Traynor and Jess O’Sullivan formed a formidable scoring duo. O’Sullivan, playing as (GA), showcased her athleticism and balance, making daring plays on the side-line to keep the ball in play. Her synergy with Traynor, (GS), was exceptional, as they worked seamlessly to convert opportunities into goals, keeping the scoreboard ticking and the team in contention.
Making a much-anticipated return from injury, Katie Harcus played as (WA) and demonstrated exceptional skill and determination throughout the match. Harcus presence was a significant boost for the team, contributing with noticeable flair and tenacity on the court.
Juliet Machan, playing in the (C) position, proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Her relentless energy and strategic play were crucial in linking defence with attack, even while working with a borrowed (WD). Machan’s ability to adapt and coordinate effectively highlighted her importance to the team.
On the defensive end, Belle Tebbutt and Vicky Tebbutt, formed an impenetrable wall. Belle, as (GD), and Vicky, as (GK), tirelessly worked to disrupt the Dean Dreamers’ shooting opportunities. Their combined efforts in the D, with Belle’s agility and Vicky’s commanding presence, provided a robust defensive backbone for the Hawks.
Despite the challenging start and trailing in the first three quarters, the Hawks showed their mettle by narrowing the gap in the final quarter. Their late-game surge, scoring 9 goals to Dean Dreamers’ 5, was a testament to their fighting spirit and determination to end the season on a high note.
Overall, it was a commendable performance by the Henley Hawks 4’s, highlighting their growth and resilience throughout the season. The team can look forward to building on these strong foundations in the next season.
