Beacon Lighting to Mark 80th Anniversary of D-Day

The beacon on Makins Recreation Ground will be lit on Thursday evening (6 June) to mark the 80th anniversary of WW2 D-Day.

Organised by Gainsborough Residents Group, who will be providing refreshments from 8pm with the beacon being lit at 9pm.

Chair of GRP, David Eggleton said, “We will be lighting the beacon to mark this historical event and to honour those lives who gave for our freedom today.”

There will be a Royal British Legion stand with the special D-Day anniversary pin badge available for a donation of £5 or more.
