Henley Turns Pink for Women’s Regatta

Henley is welcoming hundreds of women rowers this week when they will compete in the Henley Women’s Regatta this weekend and the town has turned pink to welcome them.

Many of the independent shops have changed their shop window displays to feature pink products and the Town Hall will be lit up pink this weekend.  Rachel Hollinrake from Asquiths Bearpawrium in Hart Street said, “This year, I had the opportunity to do a bit of volunteering for the Henley Women’s Regatta. One idea we jointly discussed was seeing if we could  ‘turn the town pink’ to show support for the incredible athletes competing in the Women’s Regatta. So a plan was hatched and it’s wonderful to see our amazing local shops in Henley showing their support!”

Laurence Morris from Laurence Menswear are also sponsoring the HWR as well as displaying pink clothes added, “We’re really proud to support the Women’s Regatta and the initiative they have created for the shops in Henley to go pink is great and brings the town together.  Visitors that come into the town will see that we’re all supporting it and it’s brilliant.”

Chairman of HWR, Naomi Ashcroft said: “We are thrilled that so many local businesses are supporting Henley Women’s Regatta, decorating their shopfronts pink in celebration. We are proud of our links with the Henley community and Town Council and the event could not run without the support that the local community brings. Our competitors and their supporters are looking forward to receiving a warm welcome from our local shops, restaurants and cafes over the weekend.”
