Business Partnership meeting: Protecting IP

Paul Bolton a business development specialist gave a talk about business protecting their intellectual property (IP) at Henley Business Parntership’s 3FM meeting last week.

It started with a discussion about just how many people have either suffered blatant theft of their work or idea, or have had it “borrowed” but not properly acknowledged.

Paul enlightened the audience about various ways in which IP can be protected, and what it means in reality. They learnt about the difference between trademarks and registered trademarks (not the same thing!), patents and copyright.  They also learned from Paul about the difference between detecting misuse and acting upon this knowledge, and what legal rights and enforcements are available.

Paul kindly provided a Guide to IP, plus a flyer on an IP Portfolio Review, which he put together with the IP Attorneys he works with at Baron Warren Redfern.

The next 3FM meeting is on Friday 21 November at Leander and the speaker with be Henley Town Clerk, Sheridan Jacklin Edward who will talk about his role and how the link between the Town Council and local businesses is pivotal to the success of the town, making it a pleasant place to live and work, and ensuring that small businesses can thrive, attracting staff and customers alike.
