Menza to host World Cup 26 for 26 for The Chiltern Centre

Inspired by the World Cup 2026, Szabi Majoros at Henley’s Menza Cafe is organising Henley’s first Menza Cup summer football tournament, and in support of The Chiltern Centre’s ‘26 in ’26’ challenge!

‘26 in ‘26’ was launched at the start of the year, challenging the whole community to support The Chiltern Centre’s London Marathon team – who have raised just over £9,000 for the Centre so far – by doing their own ‘26’ related challenge.

26 hours, 26 miles, 26 times, this challenge is about more than fundraising – it’s about people coming together for good.

So how does a football tournament fit?

Szabi explained: “As well as being inspired by the ’26 World Cup, the teams will be playing 52-minute games, that’s two halves of 26 minutes!”

The inaugural tournament is open to men’s teams, with each team registering up to twelve players for their entry fee of £250. Matches will be 8-a-side, with the first games taking place on Saturday 6 June at Dry Leas, the home of Henley Rugby Club, who have offered their facilities free of charge.

Szabi hopes the event will be a family affair. He said: “The coffee shop will be open and families are welcome. I want people to have a good day out here at Menza, and just enjoy the sport and enjoy the hospitality.”
