Club to Pub Swim 2015

Henley Swim Co-founder sadly dies

Co-founder of Henley Swim, Jeremy Laming has sadly passed away it has been announced today.

On the Henley Swim Instagram page it says, “It is with enormous sadness that we share the news of the passing of our co-founder and friend Jeremy Laming. Henley Swim began with Jeremy and Tom over 20 years ago, a clandestine swim which sparked a community. A community where thousands of people have found joy, friendship and a love of the outdoors. Jeremy was its very heart.
We will miss him and his presence, and we send our love and heartfelt sorrow to Aimee, their daughters and Jeremy’s family and friends.”

Jeremy with fellow co-founder Tom Kean two ex-rowers decided it would be fun in 2004 to start swimming the Henley Royal Regatta course at first light before they started the Henley Classic the following year.  The Thames Marathon and Club to Pub swims followed enticing thousands of people to swim over 20 years.  In 2025 Henley Swim the company closed citing a significant decline in participant numbers driven by concerns over water quality in the River Thames.  At the end of 2025 it was announced that the Henley Swim series would return in 2026 under the new stewardship of UK-based events service company krono:sports.

Our thoughts are Jeremy’s family and friends.
