Train Named After Norman
Earlier this afternoon a named and freshly repainted train was unveiled by Mark Hopwood, Managing Director of Greater Western Railways, in recognition of Norman Topsom’s 53 years of service to local railways.
If you’re reading this on Friday afternoon, please drop into the marquee in Henley station any time until about 7pm to celebrate Norman’s big day and wish him well.
On behalf of Greater Western Railway, Henley Trains, the Henley Branch User Group, the Henley Herald, Henley Council and our local communities, thank you for your recent support for this occasion.
What a fitting tribute to Norman for all his years of dedicated service. We’ve just come from the station and were lucky enough to have a quick chat with him before he called it a day and headed home. Well done to GWR and their staff who organised the farewell for Norman. Great job.
As Chairman of HBUG, I was sorry to miss today’s celebration of Norman’s retirement so I was pleased to read the Henley Herald report while on holiday in sunny California. Huge thanks to Norman for his many years of dedicated service. We have all benefited from his commitment, knowledge and care. Great to see the engine named after him!
