Did you know that there is a short and easy organised walk in Henley, suitable for people of all ages and abilities?
It’s a gentle half-hour walk run by the South Oxfordshire District Council in association with the Bell and Hart surgeries as part of the National Ramblers Walking for Health initiative. Walkers meet at 12 noon Tuesdays in Market Square, Henley, opposite the town hall. Walks are led by friendly trained volunteers who wear a high-visibility jacket so they are recognisable to new walkers. There are various walk routes: often down to the river, or past Friar Park to Badgemore, or to the community orchard near Henley College.
Annalie Thomasson who organises the walks said, “We’re always back in the town centre by 12.30 so you can easily go on and do other errands, like your shopping or even stop for lunch. Cloudy or unpromising weather doesn’t deter us, though we don’t walk in heavy rain or in icy conditions. There’s no obligation to turn up every week, just come and join us whenever you can. Dogs welcome too.”
