May Fayre Set to Return

The popular May Fayre will return on the first Bank Holiday in May (1 May) in Market Place between noon and 5.00pm with fun for the whole family.

There will be fairground stalls and small rides including Hook the Duck, Darts, a Ferris Wheel, Teacups ride, Coconut Shy, candyfloss stall and a kids train ride as well as stalls from local charities and organisations.

The Fayre will kick off with traditional Maypole dance with dancers from Divas and Dudes and will be followed by the Ellington Morris Dancers. In between there will be live musical entertainment from local artists.  The Fayre will end with a traditional tug of war with teams of 8 being invited to enter.

Road closures have been put in place around Market Place to make the event safe.

Penny & Sinclair estate agents have very kindly agreed to sponsor the boards promoting the event and Wilkins of Henley have also agreed again to sponsor the event.

Children aged 5-11 are invited to enter the fancy dress competition around the theme of the King’s Coronation.

Organiser, Councillor Sarah Miller said, “The May Fayre has been a long tradition in the Henley calendar and having it back in the town centre, over the last few years, has seen it grown in popularity. Our aim is to provide a fun day for everybody but also, and importantly, for the retailers and eateries to benefit from the additional footfall.”
