Old Bell Launches Local Food Collaborations
The Old Bell pub launched their independent caterers’ collaboration with pubs (ICCP) last Thursday evening with specially invited guests getting the opportunity to taste some samples of the dishes that will be on offer as well as some complimentary new cocktails.
From Wednesdays to Sundays, there will be a different menu each evening. On Wednesdays, the Old Bell Speciality will offer their renowned Crispy Fried Chicken Cluck-U (6.00-9.00pm), Thursdays will be Italian dishes by Jon Christie (6.00-9.00pm) and Fridays will be Curry Night by Persian Delights (6.00-10.00pm). Deep Dish Pizzas will be on the menu on Saturdays (2.00-10.00pm) with freshly made dough provided by Imma Bakery and Sundays (2.00-9.00pm) will be pie day created by Jon Christie.
We enjoyed delicious samples of fresh focaccia breads with different toppings, mushroom and truffle aracinis and a melt in the mouth beef rib croquette.
Landlady, Claire Wakefield said, “Here at The Old Bell we pride ourselves on offering a beautiful selection of drinks in a cosy welcoming atmosphere. The only thing missing was a delicious food menu and that was where the idea of collaboration was born. We have partnered with incredible local chefs to showcase their food and talent from freshly made pastas and pizzas to homemade pies and authentic curries.”
Jon Christie said, “I decided to work with Claire from The Old Bell because, this industry is a very hard business to be in, margins are tight and getting staff to come along for the ride is even harder! I think pubs need to change the way they work to survive. No longer is going down to the pub for a pint with a friend something everyone can afford to do. Claire is proposing something exciting that I really want to be involved with. This benefits us both greatly and will be exciting to see how we progress in the coming months!”
