Penny Wins 2024 Youth Festival Logo Competition
Penny White’s design has been chosen as the 2024 Henley Youth Festival (HYF) logo for the theme ‘My Favourite Things’.
Penny, a Year 9 Student at Gillotts Schools created the design in a D&T lesson in the summer term and was entered with others from the school. Her design was created using pencil and coloured pencils and includes some of her favourite things; ice skating, travelling, music and books.
Penny said, “It was the first time I have entered a HYF competition and was excited and couldn’t believe that I had won. My teacher sent me an email with the computer generated design by the graphic designer and had to do a double take! The final design is really good and very similar to my design which includes my favourite things. I love travelling; my favourite place I’ve visited is New York because it was really fun looking down on the skyscrapers and suburbs of the city. I play the ukulele and the piano and I’ve been ice-skating a few times since going with the Guides for the first time last Christmas.”
Chair of Henley Youth Festival, Laura Law said, “We are delighted with Penny’s colourful design that shows off all her favourite things – it’s a great fit for our My Favourite Things theme for our 30th anniversary in 2024! We were so impressed with all the entries we received and are very grateful to the schools, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, and Ben our graphic designer for supporting the logo competition this year.”
The Henley Youth Festival takes place between 2-10 March 2024. More details can be found here https://www.hyf.org.uk/
